I want, now, for us
to turn to Turner,
and observe the progression
of his passage of light,
from “Ulysses deriding Polyphemus,”
to “The ‘Fighting Temeraire’
tugged to her last Berth
to be broken up, 1838,”
to “Snowstorm…”
It is all in the interpretation.
Here I see the body
of each boat merging
with the soul of light.
Here I see
my body merging
with the body
of his light.
