After three days racing, the World Rowing Beach Sprint Finals ended yesterday on the beach of Praia da Torre in Oeiras, Portugal. And what a beautiful place for these races, which were held for the second time. The first time was in Shenzhen, China, in 2019.
This exciting branch of coastal rowing received a lot of attention on social media. Several voices were raised that coastal rowing should be in the Olympic Games. The International Olympic Committee has been approached about including this form of rowing for the 2028 Games in Los Angeles. We will see what happens in the future.
On a personal note: It was such a great pleasure to see Stina Bujalla and Tyra Carlsson of Sweden winning the gold medal in the CJW2x – well done, ladies.
