10 July 2021

The Linz-Ottensheim Organising Committee (OC) has cancelled the 2021 World Rowing Masters Regatta. This decision was reluctantly supported by the World Rowing Masters Rowing Commission and was later confirmed by the World Rowing Executive Committee.

The 2021 WRMR was set to be held from 1 to 5 September 2021 at the Ottensheim Regatta Course near Linz, Austria. Due to the continuing pandemic and, in particular, the emergence of the Delta variant, it is now expected that the cross-border and intercontinental travel will continue to be difficult, resulting in very low attendance. With such an expected low turnout it would not be feasible for the organisers to deliver a successful regatta.

All entry fees (including those who made boat rental reservation payments) will be refunded (minus 3.5% transaction fees) to their original mode of payment within one week. For those who had already made logistical arrangements for competing at the 2021 WRMR, World Rowing urge you to cancel bookings at the earliest possible convenience and to try to get refunds, where possible. The OC is available for questions at office@rudern-ooe.at .

The 2022 WRMR OC in Libourne, France, will hopefully be held on 7-11 September 2022.
